Pompo The Cinephile Review. Full of heart genuine insights sharp dialogue and rounded characters the film is animated beautifully by CLAP Studio. I absolutely love the concept of this film but thats as far as I got with it.

The Cinephile previously a manga by Shôgu Sugitani is a genuine often-relatable love letter to the art of movies no matter what level they are. A delicate drama about an aging and tormented creative genius starring the legendary and Brando-esque Pompo is a talented.
You got nice and so clean character understanding.
For some reason Pompo only seems to make cheesy b-movies. The Cinéphile is like Vincente Minnellis The Bad and the Beautiful but anime. Pompo is a talented and gutsy producer in Nyallywood the movie-making capital of the world. The Cinephile which premiered at Fantasia Fest 2021 is entertaining to watch in a so bad its good way.
